About Me

What’s a blog without a good bio, eh?

Perhaps we can define ourselves by the things that we love and hate… if so, then you’ll find both extremes in this blog, hopefully at a good balance. I write as the whim takes me. If I feel an issue is mulling in my mind, I just go for it and write it in one sitting or it’s just not going to be the same mood the next day. I also can’t write all the time, every damn day, otherwise I’d already be an accomplished writer, probably spending my lunches cackling with J.K. Rowling, drinking martinis and counting my money.

I’m a mother of two cool kids – currently one is a moody teenage girl with pink hair and the other a spritely little curly haired boy. I’ve also been miraculously married for more than 13 years to a really good guy. The song ‘Let’s Hear It For The Boy’ springs to mind every time I think fondly of him.

There are really strange things about me you should know: I was born in what was then called Yugoslavia but by the age of seven my journalist dad decided to move us to a small country in Southern Africa called The Kingdom of Lesotho. I’m not making this stuff up, I swear. I grew up there, with a vast number of people from all over the world who somehow ended up in this tiny little mountain kingdom with me…

I currently live in South Africa, one of the most stunningly beautiful countries in the world, all at once a colourful, joyful place but also a deeply wounded place… you’ll find some South African musings in the RealPolitik page.

I love to exercise. I do it all. I’m over 40 and I’ve never looked better. How to balance foodie food and drinkie poos with an exercise mentality? Do both, ffs! And with extra vigor!

More than anything I love to write good stuff. I’m a writing chameleon and if you want to buy my time, I’ll write you whatever you want, in whatever voice you want it in. You won’t be sorry! My years of experience as an investigative journalist, writing reviews, features, opinion pieces and expert copy editing skills will more than satisfy the task.

Most of all I hope you’ll enjoy reading my blog and look forward to your comments!
